Watercolor Sennelier

Gustave Sennelier: close to artists

It all began in Paris. Gustave Sennelier realized his dream by buying a small store on Quai Voltaire, and became a color manufacturer and merchant. At the time, he sold pigments in cones and bricks. Over time, Sennelier became known for the quality of its products and benefited from the location of its store, close to the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. The inventor of Hélios red had the good fortune to attract many unusual customers: Sisley, Van Gogh, Gauguin... these great masters of painting frequented Gustave Sennelier's boutique and made it known.

It was in Gustave Sennelier's workshop that the ranges of ecu pastels created especially for Edgard Degas were perfected. The Artist required ochres to work his compositions. Sennelier, close to the Artists: the bridge between tradition and innovation.

To set himself apart from his competitors, Gustave Sennelier decided to create an artistic watercolor paint offering unparalleled luminosity. He made a binder from a beautiful gum arabic, both clear and slimy, and, guided by his genius, added unctuous honey. The result is fabulous: vivid, luminous watercolours that last. Honey is an ingredient of incomparable smoothness and luminosity. In addition to these pleasant qualities, honey's preservatives ensure that the colors in your work stay vivid for a very long time. Even your tubes and buckets ofSennelier watercolor paint will stand the test of time.
